I found these fun vintage school books at the thrift store. Written in the style of the infamous Dick and Jane style children's reader books, I was captivated by the charming artwork and colorful pictures.
Kind of fun aren't they?
Hope you have a great weekend.

so wonderful that you appreciate these beautiful books danielle!!
you have lot's of fun treasures!!
A book that teachers reading and manners all at the same time!! :-)
Our educational system would do well to bring these back into the curriculum! There is SO much information for our children to be taught in todays world that things like this have fallen by the wayside. And don't even get me started on the lack of written communication skills. The other day I heard some silly Valentine segment on the news where they were saying you should tell your sweetheart how you feel about them in person because emotion couldn't be properly conveyed in an email or text. Um. Really? Has everyone forgotten about poetry and love letters and the art of writing letters?? Oh, I wasn't going to get started....
Imagine the days when children were taught to be polite and courteous at school! Too bad it wasn't still that way.
I love the Dick and Jane type illustrations in your books!
These are so fun and neat! Whatever happened to kids learning this! I wish I would of had these books when I was teaching! ;) Thanks for sharing! xo Heather
Oh they are lovely, and quite different from todays books l might add :-). Have an old norwegian school book from 1930s and several of my mum and dads childrens books from the thirties and fourties. Apprechiate them so much. Thanksfor sharing your great books here, such fun. Hope your week is a lovely one. Blessings, Pam
I collect those too and they are great for art journaling!!

I LOVE these types of books. I went to parochial schools for all 12 years, and oftentimes, because of lack of funds, our textbooks were from the 1940's & 50's (I started school in 1966). Old textbooks bring back such fond memories for me. Every time I see one at a thrift or antique store, I just have to have it. What a treasure you've found!
I love old school books:)
I love them! The text and the graphics are so cute. I can't ever pass up books like this.
Great finds Danielle. I love vintage books...I fear soon all books will be extinct with this new technology and all. Gotta save those old ones, don't you think? Hope your doing well my friend.
