I remember her long flowing red hair. Her beautiful delicate orange lace mini dress.
Her long flirty eyelashes and pretty smile.
Her name was Crissy.
I received her for a Christmas present sometime in the mid 1970's and then
(those of you that thrift will totally get this)
INSERT ANGELS SINGING HERE
* * THERE SHE WAS * *
On a shelf in Goodwill saying (in a wee little dollie voice) "take me home please".
Oh the memories.
Just look at that sweet face.
Ok, I will take you home Miss Crissy -you beautiful doll.
The best part? Her hair still grows!
Remember the knob on her back that turns so you can make her hair short or long?
Am I dating myself?
Ha! I know, and I don't care. Wanna come over and play?
I still have my Velvet (her little sister).

Crissy, you beautiful red head, you. And reunited with Velvet your little sis. Danielle, you did good.
I am too old for Crissy. My little sister had her! Great find.
How wonderful to find a toy from childhood that meant so much to you, and to be able to buy it now!! I did just this for my second daughter who lives in Canada with her young family, and sent the dolly she fell in love with when she was 3-almost 40 years ago.. like you could not leave him behind.. he was a beanbag boy- so now she is living with him in Canada, a part of her life remembered every time she looks at him... what fun eh> Hope the New Year brings all that you want, and lots of love and happiness.Janzi
Loved your post today. You made me want to go find some of my old dolls. Suddenly, I miss them.
OH a find like that was meant to be!
Oh I remember Miss Crissy very well....how I loved that growing hair!
Dare I say it....serendipity?!
WOW I would say you sure did have an angel with you that day, I found one and gave it to my younger sister but she is not in the condition yours is. What a great way to start the New Year. And she has found a loving home~
I reacted the same way when I found my childhood doll, Dancerina, at a garage sale. The owner had tears in her eyes when she handed her to me as I promised to love her and take good care of her. This had been hers as a child and parting with her was not easy. Mattel made her in 1968 and I received her as a Christmas gift that year, I was five. I had her for ten years but made the terrible mistake (as apparently many others had) of storing her with the batteries still in. The acid ate through the plastic and her beautiful tutu and my mom threw her out. I found the second one almost 30 yrs later. Isn't it strange how we find such joy when we have something that takes us back to an age of innocence? Enjoy!
She is just lovely! A match made in heaven!
Oh yes, Crissy and Violet!!! My mom bought both for me when I was a child. I was just so sad that there was never a brown haired doll, since I am a brunette. But I LOVED them so much and played with them all the time. I would do hairstyles to their hair that my mom wouldn't do to mine. That is so cool you found her waiting for a good new home:)

Oooops, I think I wrote Violet, but I meant Velvet, hahahaha.

I do want to come over and play. I had one of those-the hair growing was so cool. I'm so glad you found one. She's a treasure for sure!
I so remember her....she was the very last doll I received for Christmas. I recently found Velvet while thrifting...still on the look for Chrissy :) Great find...enjoy her! Blessings on your week.
You wont believe this, but I troll charity shops just to get a Chrissy, or a Velvet! I've found one of each, and the other one from the same family with red hair (but she's younger than Chrissy...can't remember name). However, they are usually pricey and never in such great condition! Great find! Enjoy!
Happy New Year Danielle!! Oh, she is so sweet!! Love her hair and outfit!! Too cute! Have a great week! xo Heather
She's so sweet Danielle! What a wonderful find for you!! I hope you have fun playing!! Happy new week! xo Holly
Oh my gosh! I used to have her too! She was my favorite doll. I also had the other one with the blonde hair. Through the years and moving several times, I have lost her somehow. What a great find at Goodwill! I still have my Raggedy Ann and my favorite childhood book, "The Best Loved Doll"....
Oh she's so sweet! Of course she had to come with you home :-) lt is important to take time to play...never grow up completely...l never will :-)hugs Pam
Oh! what a treasered find - lots of squeals and a happy dance round the shop! Hope it brings back lots of memories. Happy playing.
I never had a Crissy doll, but I remember playing with one at my friend's house. Yours is in perfect condition so you can tell she was loved. :@
How wonderful to find your favorite childhood doll! Have fun "playing" with her. I have a Pepper (Tammy's little sister), Penny Bright and Betsy McCall. One of these days I must do a post about them.
She's fabulous and yes she just had to come home with you....hugs Heidi
I still have my Velvet too! Love it!
Oh my goodness I had a Chrissy and loved her. Orginal dress too to boot what a find you blessed girl. Enjoy....Just found a site who found Kiddles in the perfume bottles....such fun childhood memories on blogland. Karen from Cape Cod
Thanks for the skip down memory lane! Oh how I loved the Crissy doll... never had one of my own, but I sure admired my friend's doll. Great find! :)
I still have my Crissy and her little sister. Thanks for the reminder!
She's gorgeous, pristine condition!
Oh, what a lucky find. I had a Chatty Kathy, I'm always on the hunt for her.
Hugs,
Patti
I so remember her too...loved her red hair..in fact maybe she is the reason I always wanted red hair! Still do to this day. xoxo Happy new week.
Oh Wow I had that doll. I had completely forgotten about it.
Oh my word! I remember Crissy. I had forgotten about her. It's amazing that your doll's hair still grows, because, as I recall, that was the first thing that broke on all of my friends' Crissy dolls (She was one of the few dolls that I didn't have).
