Light Bright

Our town kicked off the holiday season with a Christmas light parade. Cars, floats, people and animals covered with colored lights.

It was colorful.
It was magical.

I felt like a kid
mesmerized by the beauty
of a Lite Brite.
Remember those?
Sure you do.

Thanks for tagging along.

Girly Girl

Here is a peek at the more of the "notions" that came from the rummage sale.

Some vintage millinery was a favorite find.

And lots and lots of lovely cream to white laces.

Pretty eyelet lace.

A a box full of unused vintage buttons.

There were even more fun surprises.
I'm still digging.

I think all these things found are a little "girly girl".
Don't you agree?

I've Got a Notion . . .

Iv'e got a notion

or two, or three.

In fact, I purchased a couple of boxes of these vintage trims and sewing items at the rummage sale.  It was so much fun sorting it all out.

There were embroidered ribbons,

and embroidered animals.  I love the pink giraffe that someone made.

Turtles and caterpillars and butterflies.

I especially love all the flowers.

And there were quite a bit of red white and blue too.  All of these supplies will be so much fun to use in my art.

As I was paying for my merchandise, the lady told me that all these things came from her father's five and dime store that closed years ago. I assured her that they would be appreciated in their new home.

There was even more notions and trims.
 I'll show you those later.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Feeling Groovy

I love rummage sales.  There are bits and pieces from many people combined together.  The feeling of anticipating treasure to be found is so exciting.  I found this embroidery book in a heap of vintage crafty goodness at this rummage sale.  The year the book was published was 1975 but I think the embroidery is beautiful and timeless.  Heck I think you know me well enough by now that I love flowers and especially colorful vintage ones.  Just take a look at my blog header.

I thought maybe you may be inspired by this beautiful embroidery too.

I'll leave you with this last picture.

Real men CAN wear flowers.

Feeling groovy?

Birds of A Feather

Do birds of a feather

really flock together?

How about birds of many different feathers?

I found this lovely antique hat and was inspired to
dress my mannequin "Millie".

Of course she needed some accessories too.

Yes I'll admit
I still love to play dress up.
Do you?
