A Visit with the Girls

The chickens are getting big.

They are looking like chickens now.

Still no eggs yet.  I think I'll be the one with the loudest cluck when I first discover one.  This is pretty Lucy

and Chelsea.

Our little flock.  It seemed like it was only yesterday that they were babies (here).

I told my husband that any animals we bring home and name we will not eat (but we will gladly eat those fresh eggs).  Soooooo we quickly gave them all names.  Some are named after family or friends.

Tiny Dancer

Little Ballerina, dance for me, A delightful scene for anyone to see. On your tiptoes ever so light, You dance with magic through the night. Across the floor you flow with ease, Little Ballerina, dance for me please. I watch you glide with splendor and grace, As a smile of innocence beams on your face. Prancing about with magic in your feet, A wonder to see like an angel so sweet.

Swirling and turning through the air.

Hands moving with the music as you go,

A fantasy to see with a magical flow.

Dance upon dreams that play in your mind,

Upon the dance floor miracles to find.

Feet moving so graceful with ease,

Did you ever long to be a ballerina when you were a child?  Did you dream about dancing to beautiful music and wearing beautiful pink tulle and satin slippers?

I did.

I wind the music box up and it plays a magical tune.  The tiny dancer dances up and down and she spins around.

My little ballerina takes me back there.

If only for a moment, and that makes me smile.

Anthropologie Taste on a Thrift Store Budget

Hello there.  How are you today?  I thought I would share with you the quilt I made using vintage sheets.

I was inspired to make this by the infamous Anthropologie ruffled shower curtain.  You know the one, and rather expensive in my opinion.

So, I began collecting vintage sheets from thrift stores and garage sales and then got busy.

(pillow case details)  These were also thrifted.

I sat with my sewing machine many hours making this quilt and I think it's sort of Anthropologie-ish don't you?  At the very least I can say it's one of a kind.

My Creative Space

Welcome to my studio.  A place where I can create and dream.  A place where I keep my most favorite things.

I love to store items in glass jars.  It makes it easier for me to find the things I am looking for if I can see them.

Vintage satin glove boxes hold laces and trims, bits and bobs, this and that. Sewing machine drawers hold bias tape, rick rack and more trims.

Vintage locker baskets are used to store lots of my crafting supplies that are not so pretty to look at but I still want easy access to.

An old folding cart is filled with my vintage doilies.

A vintage dolls pink baby buggy holds

some of my crochet thread.

I love old wallpaper covered boxes. They are so useful to store more supplies.

Old lace is so pretty to look at.  Why not have it out on display where you can see it?

I designed my table. It is made from a vintage door.  Three of the panels were cut out and my husband made a drawer underneath to store some of my favorite things.  It is topped with a piece of glass.

Here are close ups of some of the things in the shadow box table.

My vintage Corona folding typewriter was a favorite find from a thrift store.

Some of the things I have in my studio are simply there because I find them pretty, or they make me smile.

A little pixie dust goes a long way.

Tinkerbell makes me smile every time I see her amongst the crystals of the chandelier.
