A Bit of This and a Bit of That

A sweet friend of mine thought I might enjoy this jacket and she gave it to me.

It is made from bits of old lace, quilts, and chenille bedspreads.

I thought who ever made this had a great imagination and vision for re-using what might of been tattered pieces of old textiles to begin with.

A bit of this . . .

. . . and a bit of that.

Granny chic.

I think it looks fabulous on my dress form.

I'm going on a little field trip tomorrow.  Hopefully I will get some good photos to share with you.

Welcome new friends!

House of Vintage

A few days ago my bestie and I went out of town for a little junking and a trip to Ikea.  I found this great little glass greenhouse at Ikea and thought it was cute for a little vintage vignette.

Everything looks more important when under glass,
don't you think?

I filled it with romantic things
since this is the month of love.

Thanks for stopping by.

Vintage Valentines

I remember exchanging valentines as a child.

I would spend a long time sorting out my valentines that I was to give my friends and classmates.  I can remember saving the "cutest" valentines for my special friends.

I recently found these sweet vintage valentines.

Cuteness overload!

I am getting out the valentine decorations.

It's the perfect time of year
to tell someone
I love you.

Junk vs Junque

These are just some of my finds
from the weekend.

Do you see "junk".....?

or do you see "junque"?

I love to think of "junque"
as even better than ordinary junk.
Really good junque.
I can't wait to haul this home junque.

It doesn't matter that these old parts are just a toolbox full of old parts. They are incredible art to me.
They have a history.

I think they will live where I can look at them and cause me to wonder about a different time and the people that may have used them.

Blessings,
Danielle

A Cameo Appearance

I found this lady at a rummage sale.
She was on the floor and looking a little forlorn. I actually felt a little sorry for her so I adopted her and brought her home with me.

What a hard day it must of been when she had her portrait taken.
Yes she is a little rough around the edges, literally she is, but she was only one dollar.
I just want to tell her to go ahead
and SMILE!

I know what this girl needs.
This girl deserves something sparkly.
A little bling may cheer her up.
How about some new diamond earrings and a cameo brooch?

Nope.
Can't get a smile from her to save my life.
I mean if someone gave you huge diamond earrings and a cameo brooch wouldn't you smile? Well wouldn't you?
I know I would, but not this chick,
no sirree.

Moral of this story. . . . .

Colorful Blooms

I went out treasure hunting yesterday
and brought these home.
 You know I love these.

Don't they make you excited for spring?

Spring is still a long time away,

but a girl can dream about it.

Sending you cheerful SMILES to you today.

She's Got Curves

Imagine a house full of this.

Curvaceous antique molding.
This example from the victorian era.

I wish I had more than a tiny piece of this.

I think the lady likes it.

So here it shall stay.
