Tiny Dancer

Little Ballerina, dance for me,
A delightful scene for anyone to see.
On your tiptoes ever so light,
You dance with magic through the night.
Across the floor you flow with ease,
Little Ballerina, dance for me please.

I watch you glide with splendor and grace,
As a smile of innocence beams on your face.
Prancing about with magic in your feet,
A wonder to see like an angel so sweet.

Little Ballerina dance with flair,
Swirling and turning through the air.
Hands moving with the music as you go,
A fantasy to see with a magical flow.

Dance upon dreams that play in your mind,
Upon the dance floor miracles to find.
Feet moving so graceful with ease,
Little Ballerina, dance for me please.

Little Ballerina by Wanda Christian Stirewalt

Did you ever long to be a ballerina when you were a child?  Did you dream about dancing to beautiful music and wearing beautiful pink tulle and satin slippers?

I did.

I wind the music box up and it plays a magical tune.  The tiny dancer dances up and down and she spins around.
My little ballerina takes me back there.
If only for a moment, and that makes me smile.

xo,
Danielle

What a dainty ballerina and pretty poetry to accompany her.
I did take ballet lessons when very young. The costumes were half of the attraction for me; so filmy and beautiful.

She's so sweet! My mom at my grandmother's house had one of these lovely ballerinas, just something about watching them and listening to that magical music. Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

I never desired to be a ballerina, I was too tall. I wanted to be an actress! That didn't work out either. :-)

I enjoyed reading this poem, and seeing this little ballerina reminded me of those jewelry boxes I had as a girl with the ballerina and the tutus. I still wish I could dance like that - with the grace of a beautiful ballet dancer, but alas, I just have two left feet, ugh! :)

oh my gosh! my heart skipped a beet!! I think I had this same ballerina when I was a little girl...I would turn the handle and wind it up and she would dance and twirl and the music would play. i would look at her for a long time...I think I forgot about that ballerina until just now!!!

Dear Danielle,

While I never had a ballerina like this one, not even in a jewelry box, I had friends who did, and we would dream about when we grew up while we listened to the music and watched the ballerina go round and round! You always help to bring back great memories.

Have a wonderful week, and keep cool!

Blessings,
Donna

Lovely post and yes I did too. The first time I saw an older girls tutu hanging from her closet door I thought it was the most enchanting thing I had EVER seen! Still do! Diane

Hi Danielle,
Love your ballerina. I used to take ballet lessons as a young child, and had the true pleasure of wearing the pink tutus and pink satin ballet shoes. I must say, that there is a gracefulnes one learns in ballet, that carries forth an entire lifetime. More important to me, however, is the small floral jewelry box that my Grandmother gave to me as a child, with the spining ballerina that danced to the tune "I Could Have Danced All Night." Sadly I no longer have it, but I keep a constant vigil on Ebay...looking for another just like it. :)
Have a great day!
Maureen
