The chickens are getting big.
They are looking like chickens now.
Still no eggs yet. I think I'll be the one with the loudest cluck when I first discover one. This is pretty Lucy

and Chelsea.
Our little flock. It seemed like it was only yesterday that they were babies (here).
I told my husband that any animals we bring home and name we will not eat (but we will gladly eat those fresh eggs). Soooooo we quickly gave them all names. Some are named after family or friends.
What are you doing?
Anything fun?

what beautiful birds! Some of them look alike to me...glad you gave them names. :-) I can't imagine fresh eggs. What a wonderful treat!
Oh, how cute they are!! We have three Rhode Island Reds and we are expecting eggs in the fall!! We are actually hoping to add two more hens and a rooster. Looks like we are doing the same thing!
Nice to meet all the ladies! They have gotten so big since they were babies (so cute, by the way). Excited to hear when you get some eggs! :) ~Smiles, xo Holly
Hi Danielle,
What beautiful chickens grace your homestead, and lovely names to boot. I so wish we were permitted to have chickens where I live, as they are so fascinating, and well, access to fresh eggs would be icing on the cake. I bet they each have their very own personalities to keep you amused!

Danielle, my parents just got their first egg this week. My mom said that hen cried when my dad took it from her. Made me sad. My mom has them following them around her in the yard and eating grasshoppers out of her hand. It is the cutest thing. Best to you. We are folding laundry and packing bags...yeah! Renee
They are adorable....
Oh, they are such pretty girls! My mother had chickens when I was growing up. They ran loose in the yard with no coop so we didn't even gather eggs. They were just for eating the bugs. So sweet to see them running around the yard! At night they would fly up into the low branches of the trees to sleep.
they are so beautiful! can't wait to someday have some of my own!
Your chickens look wonderful ~! Be patient, the eggs will come and you will just love them ;-)
Your photos are awesome! I never realized how beautiful their feathers are!
Gosh, they are really beautiful! A few look like they have attitudes. ha!
What a nice and healthy flock you have. I bet they are a joy to watch.
They are so big now!! Such beautiful chickens they are! Have a blessed day! xo Heather
They were so cute when they were little and now thier pretty ladies. Hopefully the eggs will come soon!
Hugs~~ Daphne
My brother and sister-inlaw have chickens as well as a friend- Needless to say I am learning about chickens! When I was reading their names and saw Ethel I thought for sure you would have a Lucy to go with her.LOL
Aloha Danielle,
Your chickens look great! How old are they? They should start to give you eggs when they're at the end of 5 months or beginning of 6 months old. Ours started at just about going on 6 months. It is awesome to have fresh eggs. I didn't name our chickens, but I still won't eat them. The chickens that are strictly for egg laying are rather tough to eat anyway. LOL
Have fun with those ladies!
I like your chickens. They look so funny. They are all so different from each other.
At 2 o clock a friend will visit me with her two boys.
The weather is good so we can play with them in the garden.
Have a blessed day!
WoW-zers, your not kidding, they don't stay cute and fuzzy for long!!
i love lucy!!
Aren't they beautiful? I bet it will be fun to find that first egg! Love your antique lace creations on your last post, too! Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my magazine post, Danielle!
It won't be long now and you'll have so many eggs you won't know what to do with them. LOL
We are constantly giving eggs away! and there SOOOOOOOO good!
Sweet chickies you have there!
hugs Lynn
they are beautiful animals! hope the eggs start coming soon!!
Your girls are growing...love their names...thanks for the smiles today. Happy egg hunting. xoxo
Your girls are just beautiful. I love the markings on the feathers and looking at the before picture when they were babies it's hard to imagine. My daughter in Billings, Montana has chickens. They carry them around, the chickens sit on their lap - real pets. You'll get plenty of eggs, too. Diane
I am so glad to hear that you will not be eating any of the chickens. Love the names you have picked out for them. TFS. Ana
sweet feathered ladies :) they look very happy and content, l couldn' t eat them either :)
Not that the other chickens aren't gorgeous, but I love Chelsea's feathers. Sort of look like peacock feathers minus the bright colors. Hope the girls make some eggs soon.
Your gals are pretty! Love the names you chose, especially Lucy and Ethel! We named our gals after Donald Trump's wives (Ivana, Marla and Melania)and named our rooster "Donald."
Hope the eggs start coming soon ~ they're soooo good!
~Cindy

I just laughed at your chicken's names. My four chickens are Lucy, Ethyl, Laverne, & Shirley. They each have their own personalities and give me great joy each day, as does yours, I'm sure. Your blog pictures are beautiful and your thrifting adventures are similar to mine.Have a blessed New Year.
