A Cup of Joy

I am so happy today.  My husband and I are celebrating him getting a new job and after years of working out of town, he will be working just a few miles from where we live.

We have never taken having a job for granted, but there are so many that are without work right now.  Times are tough all over the place and companies and businesses have "down sized" and the open positions (if any) are few. So when the only work he could find was hundreds of miles away, we just had to make it work.  I would be lying if I told you it wasn't lonely or stressful. Good thing our marriage was strong enough to endure it. I am so grateful that we have this opportunity with this new job and that my husband will be coming home every night instead of to a lonely hotel room.

I believe that through the rough patches of my life, there has always been a reason for it.  God may reveal it to me, or He may not.  I just have to be okay with that.

I wanted to share my cup of joy with you today.  I feel happy and I just can't stop smiling.

xo,
Danielle

A very BIG CONGRATULATIONS! There are only a few times a year when my husband has to be gone overnight for work, and it bothers me so much that I started going with him. We pack our 4 1/2 year old, along with all her "junk" and join him in the hotel. So, I can relate to your inability to stop smiling over this wonderful news!!!

I know your cup is joy is overflowing and I so happy for you and your sweetie.

Believe it or not, my sis is commuting from Dallas, Texas, to Denver, Colorado!!! She flies out every Sunday evening to Colorado, and back home to Texas every Thursday afternoon. Her oldest boy is staying at the house in Texas, while her husband is staying at the rental they have in Fresno, California, with their youngest son until he graduates high school in June. Then he's off to college, where ever that might be but daddy is joining mom in Texas. She works for a Catholic Hospital organization that is nationwide, and she programs the patient/doctor/hospital records. She just couldn't turn down the money they are paying her to work in Denver for a year. Plus they pay all of her expenses and Per Diem, bonus and the hourly wage is a dream. Figures they can pay the house off in one year! Not bad for the sacrifice.

I'm happier for your situation, Danielle! I know how hard this has been on you guys for so long. I pray my Sis's time goes quick, too.

Congratulations, and blessings,
Donna

Danielle I'm so happy for you! I know this will make a HUGE difference in your lives!
My hubby drives 104 miles round trip each day and while I'm so grateful for his job, I do wish he could work closer to home. I think we're at the point where we'll be moving closer to his work place...But I don't wanna! I love my little town! Vanna

So happy for you, Danielle! I can imagine how relieved and grateful you are. And I especially loved how you said "God may reveal it to me, or He may not. I just have to be okay with that." That's right where He wants you (and me) to be. Resting in His Sovereign will and right to our lives, in good times and bad. Have a wonderful weekend.

Danielle, I know the feeling you have! My husband has to travel extensively for work, so we are often without him. Several months ago, he accepted a position with a Texas company (we live on Long Island in New York), so he has to travel all the time. The company has given us 12 to 18 months to relocate, so next year at this time we will be putting our house up for sale and getting ready to move. Even when we do move to Texas, he will still often have to travel overseas. It is hard, but like you said we cannot take a good job for granted. I am so happy your husband found a job close to home!!
