A local tradition.  This victorian house lets you peek inside the windows for a bit of a halloween scare.

Care for an eyeball?

Hope you didn't get too scared.
Sweet Dreams.

She Got a New Hat

So I was wondering . . . . .

Do you think she is a
good witch or a bad witch?

I say as long as she shares
the chocolate she can hang around.

Welcome new friends and followers.

Estate Sale Vintage Finds

I went to an estate sale
and found a few things.

Estate sales are interesting.

It gives a peek into someone elses life.

Things that were saved.

Things that meant something to somebody.

A lifetime of memories.

I found these books beautiful.
They are written in another language (German?) and they are quite worn and fragile. I can only imagine the people that turned the pages over the years.

A surprise fell out while admiring
the gorgeous text.

It looks like Albert may have been
the last to read this book.

Happy weekend!

The Friendship Box

Since I have started blogging, I have met some pretty wonderful kindred souls in blogland.  I have experienced a lot through blogging and following along right there with other bloggers.
 I have
laughed out loud
rejoiced with
prayed for
cried with
been challenged by
 and have received so much
inspiration from these women.

One of those women (whose name is Donna) with a kind and generous heart reached out to me and told me that she really wanted to send me something.  It was going to be a surprise she said. It wasn't my birthday.  I hadn't won a giveaway. I wondered why she would want to send something to me.  To me really? A surprise?  I was so curious.  I was intrigued.  I was humbled.  Well today my surprise was waiting for me at my door.  Like a little child on Christmas morning, I couldn't wait to see what was inside.  I carefully opened the box.

Inside the first thing I saw was
this beautiful card.

The card is beautiful
and I am sure handmade
by Donna herself.
 I just love that.

Inside the box was this beautiful beaded purse, lots of sparkly earrings, and a gorgeous mirrored tray.

And the gifts kept coming.

These darling porcelin dolls.

This cute wire bird basket.

Beautiful vintage china
and an antique skeleton key.

Donna, you thought I might enjoy these things
and you were right.

I love everything you sent me.

I am grateful and I am humbled that you would think of me, a fellow blogger.
Even though we have never spoke on the phone or met in person, I feel so special and loved.
Thank you.

I hope that you will go visit
Donna is so talented.  She is a scrapbooker, a crafter, a seamstress, a baker, a wife and a grandma too and her heart is made of gold.

Thank you for your visit today.
The weekend is almost here. Got anything fun planned?  Hope you are enjoying all your blessings.

What's on my Fall Mantle Right Now

I know many of you have had your fall mantle decorated for awhile now.  Yesterday I got the bug to foof up mine.

I found this antique clock at the thrift store.  It has the most wonderful sounding chime.

A Fall Song

by Ellen Robena Field

Golden and red trees
Nod to the soft breeze,
As it whispers, "Winter is near;"
And the brown nuts fall
At the wind's loud call,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Good-by, sweet flowers!
Through bright Summer hours
You have filled our hearts with cheer
We shall miss you so,
And yet you must go,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Now the days grow cold,
As the year grows old,
And the meadows are brown and sere;
Brave robin redbreast
Has gone from his nest,
For this is the Fall of the year.
I do softly pray
At the close of day,
That the little children, so dear,
May as purely grow
As the fleecy snow
That follows the Fall of the year.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

White Delight

How do.....

How do you know when to stop collecting
more lace and more buttons?
I found all this by the bagful
at a rummage sale for a great price.

I already have more than enough lace
but I can't say no to more.

I guess I just can't help myself.

It's Not Easy Being Green

I always look forward to seeing this guy
as I travel back home.

Is it just me or does he look like he's got an attitude?

Happy day,

Halloween Treats

I am a lucky girl.
I have recently won not one,
but two giveaways.

The first is from Eloise of The Junk Fairy

She included cute supplies to make some tags and a wonderful soldered necklace with a key.

Don't you just love how she attached it to this vintage photo?

The next giveaway was sent to me from

She included all sort of ephemera and vintage halloween fun.  I love her tags.  Such cute detail.

Doesn't she look so sad?  I wonder what she's thinking.

Thank you for your generosity and creativity ladies! I love each and every thing that you have included.

I hope you visit their lovely blogs.

I'll be on the road tomorrow for my soldering class so I won't be able to reply to your comments, but I still will be reading every little precious comment and email from you my friends.  Hope this week gifts you with many blessings.

Teeny Tiny Treasures

Getting ready to go to a soldering class
and I am gathering up some supplies.

I thought they all looked so pretty gathered together.

I am looking forward to hitting the road with my best bud and enjoying a little girl time.  Like always, I pack too much but a girl's gotta have a choice, right?

Flea Market Raven

While shopping at the flea market
last weekend I spied this girl.

She is a decoy and is quite large (about 19 inches long).  She is a raven.  Don't get her confused with a crow.  Ravens are quite large and are abundant here in Arizona.  Some ravens grow even bigger than this.

 This sweetie loves her diamonds.

Don't tell her that her diamonds aren't real.
She thinks they are and I'm fine with that.

This is what I was doing last night.

Roasting marshmellows in our new firepit.  It's an antique cast iron wood stove "salvaged" from a garage sale
for a mere ten bucks.

Aahhhh... tasty toasty marshmellows and my honey.
A perfect date night.
