The Prize Inside

I spy with my little eye. . . . .

lots of things.
Can you find a dinosaur, a robot, a whistle
or even a tiny baby Jesus?

A prize perhaps from a gum machine?
A tiny treasure.  part of a child's collection, a memory.

I spy with my little eye
lots of junk.
But it's good junk.
I believe that there is a difference
between good and bad junk.
Anyway, it makes for a colorful photo.
Hope you are all having a good week.

Rue Madame

Thought I would share a lovely surprise that came for me in the mail.

It was wrapped oh so lovely and embellished with vintage sheet music.

What was inside you ask?

A sweet smelling grain sack sachet.
and...

...this beautiful hand stenciled apron.
Almost too special to wear.

But my dressform "Millie" sure looks cute wearing it.

Thanks so very much Rebecca.

I know I hinted of a giveaway coming up.  Some things are happening over here right now so it's coming.  Maybe a little later.  Thanks for your patience.

White Wednesday

Are you intrigued by
antique lace as much as I am?

Let’s take a journey back in time

When everything was beautiful
And gentle streams did flow.

Where happy children graced the halls
In mansions on a hill
Where charm and grace did set the pace
In memories, lingering still.

A time when ladies met for tea
At tables set for two
Southern Belles with things to tell
In misty morning hue.

Corsets here and bustles there
Such lovely flowing dresses
A touch of eloquence was found
Beneath those lovely tresses.

All dressed up in fringe and lace
With gowns of flowing white
They held their children close to them
And tucked them in at night.

With locks of hair pulled up in buns
And topped with pretty bonnet
The legend that was left behind
Goes nearly like a sonnet.

portion of a poem by Marilyn Ferguson 2003
"Victorian Lace for Mother's Day".

Vintage Yummyness

I have bought and sold antiques and vintage collectibles for years.  I haven't rented a space in an antique mall
for quite some time.
 That is ....... until now.

This is only a small sampling
of what I found this weekend.

It has been so much fun buying all sorts of things for my space.  I have been cleaning, pricing, and arranging all my vintage treasures for sale.

This little glass Coca Cola bottle is tiny.  It is a keeper as my hubby loves all things Coca Cola.

Stacks of linens all with
handmade lace edging.

The thrill of the hunt.
A true junker knows
exactly what I mean.

It keeps me excited to keep searching for treasure.  Because you never know
what treasure you may find.

I thought these little blue birds
were so sweet.
They are linen envelopes
for storing cloth napkins or
special pieces of linen.

Have you found any treasure lately?

Lucky

I am a lucky girl.  I recently won a couple of giveaways that I just wanted to share with you.  They arrived in the mail today.  It is always so much fun getting packages in the mail. First is a gorgeous jewelry roll.  I just love the floral design.  So pretty.

And tucked inside was this gorgeous handmade necklace.    Tanya from the Bead and Needle created these lovelies.  These gifts were gifted to me from
Suzan of Old Grey Mare where several artists showcased their work to be given away to new homes.

This fun barkcloth pillow came in the mail today for me hand crafted by Nancy Polacek (one of the team members) of
Flea Market Style Magazine.  It was lovingly crafted from a vintage curtain panel.  It has a squishy soft down pillow tucked inside.  I am enjoying this cutie while it lives here on my bed.  The colors are perfect for me.

Lola loves it too.

Thank you very much ladies!  I will enjoy these things very much.

I hope you visit these ladies as they have great blogs.

I need to get my act together and get a giveaway ready for my followers so, giveaway coming soon.

Hope

Warning: Heavy Post Ahead.  If you are looking for something happy today, you may not want to read any further.  I feel I must share from my heart today and I will be asking for your prayers.

Hello dearest friends and readers.  Do you ever find your hand stretched outwards, reaching for something yet you do not know what that something is?  Your heart aches so bad that is actually hurts deep down to your soul?  I have a very dear friend that is desperately reaching right now and I don't know quite how to help her.  I hurt right along besides her and I so want her hurt to go away so that she can smile again.

My friend lost her husband right before Christmas last year.  His death was sudden and how he lost his life was tragic. She is desperately trying to sell her home before it goes to foreclosure and she is almost completely out of money.  She recently told me that she felt that she didn't have a purpose.  That cut me deeply.  Everyone has value and has a purpose and is made in the image and likeness of God, yet she still feels she has no purpose.  I am genuinely worried for her and haven't stopped praying for her.  I pray that when I am speaking with her that God's words and love will wash over her and that she will listen, hear, and feel the love of God.

I recently told a good friend of mine that I feel like I am running out of happy.  I don't know what more I can give my friend to make the hurt go away and so she can start healing.  I don't know what more I can do for her.  I don't know what more I can say to her. I am praying that God will work through me and I know and trust Him but it has been so hard for me seeing her go through this deep unhappiness, lonliness, and hopelessness.

It is so sad to watch someone deteroriate into hopelessness.  How does one keep getting up from a fall day after day?  How does one begin the healing process and start accepting their life without the one that they love beside them?  How does one accept change and growth?  How does one begin to see the light again?  And as her friend what more can I do?

I am asking you, dearest readers, to please pray for my friend as well as for myself.  I would very much love to see her become closer to the Lord and to smile again.

I would ask you to please leave a comment below for her.  I ask you, even if you seldom leave a comment that you will consider leaving one today for her. I will be forwarding these messages to her so that she can feel HOPE again and FLY once more.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Danielle

Home Is Where The Heart Is

A little peek at a corner of my home.
What is it that defines home to you?

Could it be fresh flowers?
Maybe photos of the ones we love?
A family heirloom?
Or does home simply mean shelter?
Could it mean comfort?
Possibly the scent of a fresh pie
baking in the oven?
Does home mean more about the people who live and visit there?

Or is home really a definition of a feeling we get when we are there?

For me home means a little of all of these things, but mostly the feeling of home lives in

my heart.

It overflows sometimes and is shared
with the ones I love.

"Every house where love abides
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."
~Henry Van Dyke

The little ruffled shade I scored at a recent estate sale for a song.  I almost put it back but I am glad I got it.  I think it's the perfect touch for my vintage lamp.

I am so happy you came for a visit.  I hope that where ever you live, your home is in your heart.
