Life As A Quilt

Life for me is much like a quilt.

Each piece represents
A Memory.
An Experience.
A Part of Myself.

Joy
Happiness
Hope
Truth
Love
Friendship
Devotion

There are also holes, rips or tears on this quilt.

Sadness
Guilt
Grief
Tears
Fear
Brokenness

A little of this, and a little of that.
A lifetime of experiences woven and stitched
together.
As a whole, they make up this quilt.

My life.

My life as a quilt.

I found this beauty for three dollars at a yard sale.
A cast off to them, a treasure found by me.

Welcome new friends!  Posts will be light for the next couple of weeks.
I'm going home to Arizona soon.

happy day

Shoes With SOUL

If you were a pair of shoes . . . . .

What sort of shoes would you be?

Flip flops
high heels
boots
flats
high top tennies
moccasins
sandals
clogs
or whatever strikes your fancy.

Who are you?

I think I would be a comfortable pair of flats.
Easy to run and play in.  Definitely broken in and soft.
A favorite everyday shoe that is easy to wear.

So if you had to pick
just one type of shoe...

What kind of shoe would you be?
Do tell. I'd love to hear from you.

xo,
Danielle

My Lucky Win

So I was wondering . . . . . . . . . .

If you had all this wonderful ephemera
to work with . . . . .

What would you create?

I was the lucky one who won a giveaway
offered from

All of these things are wonderful!
The nurse buttons are so great as my husband is a nurse.

I am so excited to create something, especially
because I have all these new to me
vintage pieces. So what shall I create?

Hmmm...
Don't know yet.
I am waiting for
a little artistic inspiration.

Thank you so very much Linda!

Love,
Danielle

Smitten

My new obsession.

Vintage Wallpaper.

It's colorful.
It's charming.
It's cottage.
It's romantic.
All at the same time.

I have some ideas
on how I would love
to use these papers.

But for now,

I am happy to just look at them.

Yes I am smitten
with vintage wallpaper.

My Day with Kelly Rae

I just love the art of Kelly Rae Roberts.  Her work is well known and I think her altered style paintings are inspiring,
whimsical and beautiful.

Yesterday I got the chance to meet her in person and she is just as sweet and adorable as you might imagine.  There is a feature article on her in the latest Mar/April issue of Somerset Studio magazine.

Choosing was so hard but a couple of pieces spoke to me and she was nice enough to sign them.

I love how she uses layers of vintage wall paper and lace and paint.

Everything shapes us.
Yes Kelly Rae, I agree.

Daisy Love

At evening when I go to bed
I see the stars shine overhead;

They are the little daisies white
That dot the meadow of the Night.

And often while I'm dreaming so,
Across the sky the Moon will go;
It is a lady, sweet and fair,
Who comes to gather daisies there.

For, when at morning I arise,
There's not a star left in the skies;

She's picked them all and dropped them down
Into the meadows of the town.

Birds of a Feather

I thought I would share my little flock
of white birds.

They were a cinch to make.  They started out as this thrifted cotton sweater.

I made a little simple pattern.

Easy peasy and they were
cheap, cheap, cheap to make.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
