How are you doing today? It's another hot sunny day here. A great day to hide in my studio and create something. A basket full of doilies and an old lampshade (with the silk barely hanging on by a thread) becomes a project. I just ripped out the silk and dug through my collection of doilies.
I had no real plan, just layer on the pretty.
I found these lovelies out junking. Just look at this sweet picture of a bride (I'm guessing circa 1920's).
A sweet piece of floral barkcloth nabbed for $2.50 and a set of rusty and crusty doorknobs with key plates just $2.00. The framed bridal picture set me back a whopping $1.79

Hope you are surviving the heat but having fun.

Danielle

I have never thought to use doilies for a lampshade but it really is such a good idea. Yours looks lovely. I have a lot of doilies that my mother-in-law made. I may do something similar. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Danielle.....Love that lampshade. I have done the same thing while traveling on the road. When we drive, it is impossible to do any art so I decided to redo some old lamp shades I have found along the way. It's easy peasey and they look so lovely when completed. Yours is gorgeous.
