The Birds Are Singing

If you listen closely
you will hear
the birds singing.

Singing songs of gratitude and love,

They are quite happy here,

hanging out on
this antique candelabra.

Happy White Wednesday.

Riding in a Pixie Car

If you were offered a ride in this little red car with these little pixies . . .

. . . where would you go?

Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.

White Wednesday

“Thou that has given so much to me,
Give one thing more–a grateful heart;

Not thankful when it pleaseth me,

As if thy blessings had spare days;

But such a heart, whose pulse may be
Thy praise.”

– George Herbert

I found all three of these chenille spreads this past week.  The antique doll has been with me for a long time.  Happy White Wednesday my friends. Please go to

to see more pretty whites.

Have a Seat

What will you be doing for Thanksgiving this year?  Will you be going over to someones house or will you be cooking a huge feast for a crowd?  I usually host the Thanksgiving meal at my house and that means creative seating for all the family.

I use all my chairs, tables, and
bar tables and stools so that I can
accommodate everyone.

Well, maybe not that many.

At least we are all together.  Hope you have a very blessed Thanksgiving!

These little pixies were so happy to get out of the box and decorate the Christmas tree.

I have collected these pixies for many years, and have collected quite a few of them.

I look for these all year long.  Sometimes Goodwill will have bags of misc. ornaments for sale.  I always check to see if one of these little pixies might be hiding amongst all the ornaments.

They are also known as "knee huggers".   I even found a "knee hugger" Santa.

I also love to add some vintage tinsel.  This is the good stuff made of lead and hangs so beautifully.

I'm still decorating so I will be adding some more pictures as I go.   Hope you have a great weekend, friends.

Whistle While We Work

I recently told a friend that I wished I had a magic wand.  My housework and household chores would be done in an instant with little more than a flick of my wrist.  Below are some days of the week towels I embroidered for a gift.  I had a chance to use some of that vintage rickrack I recently purchased.

I mean really,
who loves to do housework?

Certainly not me.

Good thing we have a schedule.

Monday - Wash
Tuesday - Iron
Wednesday - Mend
Thursday - Grocery shop
Friday - Clean
Saturday - Bake
Sunday - Church

What if I wanted to bake on a Friday
or iron on a Saturday?
Oh well housework is never done,
so I might as well

Whistle while I work.

Because you know that
7 days of housework
makes one weak.

White Wednesday

Look what I found for a dollar!

I found this antique bowl and pitcher that someone transformed into a lamp
and it was only $1.00 !!
My local Goodwill has a dollar day once a week and everything with the sale color tag
is a dollar.

It's perfect in my guest room.

I have had this antique jewelry box for awhile.  I also found it at my GW.

It is lined in the most beautiful blue silk.

Self portrait in the "ghosty" mirror.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Sunday

A few snaps of beauty I noticed today. . .

"I can do nothing on my own authority; I judge only as God tells me, so my judgement is right, because I am not trying to do what I want, but only what he who sent me wants."
