Flea Market Finds Found

Hope you had a nice weekend.  My weekend was full of treasure hunting. This little cottage still has some of its original perfume.

I do not believe that I could ever own enough cloches.  I just love them to display treasures.  I found some vintage jewels too.

And handmade tatted lace.  I will save this for a very special project.

A few chandy crystals.  I could never have enough of these as well.

More wooden hangers with advertisements.  My mom in law even gifted me with a couple of wooden hangers recently.  She asked me what I did with them.  When I told her I just hang clothes on them she seemed surprised.  I guess I repurpose things a lot.

I was so excited to find a little box of mother of pearl antique buttons.

I also purchased many many antique quilt squares at the flea market.  When I learned how much they were . . . . . well . . . . .I couldn't get my money out fast enough.  I picked them up for a song.  They need to be pieced together to complete a project a woman started so long ago.

I have a stack of star pieces and a stack of this block pattern.

Anyone have any idea of the vintage of these quilt squares?

What did you find this weekend?  I would love to hear what you found.

Mosaic Fireplace

Here is my fireplace as it looks now.

This was before.  It was red bricks before this.  I painted it white to freshen it but sometimes more is more
so I decided to mosaic it.

My hubby constructed a "form" out of ordinary plywood that fit right over the brick.  I then went to town and used vintage china to mosaic right to the plywood.

I used a hidden hook and eye to attach it directly to the wall so it wouldn't move.

So now I can say I have
a one of a kind fireplace.

A Cord That's Now Cozy

Cord Cozy?
A cord whaaaat?

First of all, let me back up a little
and tell you a bit about
the chair pads in my studio.

I think these chair pads
are old enough to be called vintage.

You know the ones that you tie on
with a bow to the chair?

Well I purchased them at the thrift. Some had ties. Some were missing their ties so
I just cut them all off.

I was left with these "sleeves". I was going to just pitch them and since I hate to throw stuff away, I came up with a little idea to

upcycle them.

First I cut off all the "points".

Hey, I could make a little mini banner
 out of these!

I threaded the sleeves onto the rather ugly power cord of my very cute and necessary work lamp.

And there you have it.

 A cord cozy.

 and best of all

Thanks for coming by!

Autumn Cupboard

Even though the weather around here
 hasn't cooled to fall temperatures,

yet. . . . .

I'm in the mood for
some cozy
 fall decorating.

 I really don't care for
fall decorations that are orange.
I stick to fall colors
in reds, greens, and ivory.

I have used worn vintage books,
and things I already had
to bring in some
cozy fall color.

ceramic pumpkins and gourds.
These don't scream Halloween
and will stick around
until Thanksgiving.

I made these pumpkins
a couple of years ago.
They are embellished with
 antique lace and trim.

They are antique looking
and definitely
not orange.

Thanks for stopping by.

Blueberry Pancakes

Blueberry pancakes on a Saturday morning.
I had such a craving,
I just had to make me some.

They make my mouth water
 even before
 I finish cooking them.

Good news is they don't
 take long
 at all to prepare.

I like mine with a little powdered sugar.
  No syrup necessary.
The juicy berries make their own syrup.

Problem is I'm not the only one
 who loves blueberry pancakes.

Lola is trying to look cute
for a sample of my breakfast.

That face didn't work.
So how pitiful is this face?

....Oh...please Mom...Just a bite?....

Of course I gave Lola a couple of her own.

Mainly because I wanted to
enjoy mine in peace.

Happy weekend!

White Wednesday

I wanted to share some more white treasures around my home.  I especially wanted to show my friend R.B. (you know who you are) some of my whites because he LOVES to decorate in whites.

My lady lamp.

Not just another pretty face.  She never tires of posing.

I have these plaster plaques.  They are very old.  This one is night.

And this one, day.

My beautiful Madonna and child Jesus.

Hope you are having a great week.

Silver Sunday

I thought I would take this opportunity in this "Silver Sunday" to introduce you to Charlotte.  She is a tiny frozen charlotte that I incorporated into this necklace.

Charlotte is dressed in blue tulle complete with a little "diamond" accent.

She is encased in glass and soldered.

Hope you like her.

Happy "Silver Sunday".
