Serendipity (ser'en-dip'-e-ti) :Is the effect by which one accidentally stumbles upon something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated.

Summer's Not Over . . .

Summer's not over yet.  I'm hanging on to the last little bit of it.

Playing ball with Lola.

Enjoying the sounds of the little waterfall in the backyard and the birds it attracts.

And even enjoying the sounds of (YIKES) these creatures!

Because . . . . .

Summer's not over till the cicada stops singing!

Anyway

Blessed Mother Teresa's Prayer

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

-Blessed Mother Teresa

Imagine what life would be like if everyone lived these words.

friendships

"I get by with a little help from my friends".

-John Lennon

"I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me. I'd like to be the help that you've been always glad to be; I'd like to mean as much to you each minute of the day, as you have meant, old friend of mine, to me along the way."

Button Up!

I think I was born with the need to collect and create.  I used to play with these very buttons as a child.  I would play with these for hours.  They belonged to my grandma.  I was so happy when my grandma asked me if I would like to have her old button box.  Did your grandma have a button box?

I liked to sort the buttons by color, my favorites, or by the type of button.  All in little piles.

Utilitarian, yet buttons can be so beautiful.

These buttons are hand painted china buttons.  The detail on them is amazing!

I would love to create something special with these.  Any ideas?

Home Keeping

I just received this in the mail.  Products to make my home clean and smell good.  I won one of the giveaways offered by Leticia at
Ms Bingles Vintage Christmas.    How could she of known that I really could use something like this right about now?  I have been gone for several months and well...the house certainly doesn't clean itself.

One of the most fun items were these chenille cleaning slippers.  I felt a little like Tom Cruise sliding around the house in socks. (remember Risky Business?).  Quite fun really.  Please pay no attention to the paint splatters on my feet.  I have been painting for the last two days.  Thank you so much Leticia for these most appreciated items.  My house also thanks you.

I hope you go visit Leticia at
Ms Bingles Vintage Christmas.  She has a really cute blog (tell her I sent you).

Home

I'm home again.
  Did you miss me house?

I have been away, but back to stay for awhile.  Trying to put things in order and tidy up.  I am trying to adjust to this heat and the altitude.  Everything needs cleaning and dusting.  I'm working on it a little at a time.  There is so much to do.

It is so nice to be back with friends and family.
  I missed them very much.

It still will be an adjustment.  My husband will still be living and working a thousand miles away.

  So I am torn . . .

between two houses, two lives,  in two different states.

Even though I am thrilled to see those I love here . . .
I will still miss seeing those I love there.

Number 65

I found a little "silver" treasure today.
  Number 65.

A great place to store some magazines.

These locker baskets are so handy to store just about anything.  I'm thinking of making a little liner for this one. What do you think?

I'm joining the silver party at Gypsy Fish Studio

Go here to see all the silver.

In This Life

"In this life
Be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly . . .

Leave the rest to God.  Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,

It's about learning to dance in the rain.  Choose this day to not simply be alive but to LIVE."
