Century old Greetings

Recently I found an album loaded with postcards. Most of the postcards were dated between 1908 -1910. Greetings from one hundred years ago. I was thrilled to have found this collection. (click on photo to enlarge).

I am so glad that someone saved these. Most have short messages wishing good health, happy birthdays, sweet words of encouragement, love, and friendship.

Sweet little pieces of art. All made before correspondence meant an email, text or a phone call.

Hope the rest of your holiday weekend is safe, restful, and enjoyed with friends and family.

Say Cheeeeeese!

Oh you precious little cow! I love cows. My dog Lola loves cows and gets so excited if I ever dare say the word "cow". I make my husband pull over so I can get some pictures of these cuties! Cars pass us by and probably think we are crazy for wanting to take their picture (but do I care?).
Sister cows? Maybe best friends.
They are as curious of us. Hey people watcha doing?
Finally we are here, the Tillamook Cheese factory! Delicious cheese made in Tillamook, Oregon.

Before I snapped some pictures of the cheese assembly line, I told the people to say cheese....LOL!

Sorry, duplicate pic.
You can purchase cheese curds here. Some people call this "squeeky cheese" because of the texture of this cheese.
They also make delicious ice cream. My husband and I shared a peanut butter and chocolate ice cream in a waffle bowl. So good!
It was a fun day. Thanks for coming along.

Sew nice

I have a new toy. Here she is...A vintage Singer featherweight! I have wanted one of these for awhile. I haven't sewn in quite awhile and I wanted to try a project on this machine to get a feel for how she sews.

One of my favorite high school teachers was my sewing teacher Mrs. McCready.
She taught me some useful sewing skills that I still remember.

Thanks Mrs. McCready!

A ruffled purse was my project choice. Ready for me to go shopping!

It didn't take me too long to complete and it's certainly not perfect, but hey...neither am I. I made a few yo-yo's to embellish the purse. I may add a couple of vintage buttons.

Thanks for stopping by. Are you working on any projects?

One Drop...

God got out the paintbrushes. (please click on photo to enlarge if you wish.)

Oh dear a deer!

A beautiful day.A beautiful deer.
Cautious, but not afraid. We looked at each other for a few minutes.....
...before she went on her way.

Flea Marketing -continued-

Here are some of the goodies I got this past weekend while antiquing & thrifting. Some vintage millinery flowers, a jadite mug, some costume jewelry, a pink vintage jewelry box, a sweet little linen vintage box purse, crocheted little purse, antique photos, sweet pillowcases with blue birds embroidered on them, a few pieces of silverplate flatware, a few old cracker jack prizes, and printers blocks that spell LOVE. I also got a fabulous crown molding piece with porcelain door knobs attached Sorry no picture of this, but trust me (it's cute).
The sweater clip with yellow "stones" was just $1.00! I have a huge collection of flower pins and I couldn't resist the yellow rose pin and matching earrings. They have rhinestones on them too!
I don't know what I'm going to do with this lotto game board piece. I got it just because I thought it was neat.

More photos taken at Barn House below...

This poor chair. I wonder if anyone gave it a good home.

Barn House Adventure

I attended Barn House this past weekend. A wonderful flea market type sale with many wonderful worn, chippy, shabby items with a history. I had read about Barn House sales in a Sommerset magazine and the latest Flea Market Style magazine. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home and husband so graciously offered to take me. It didn't disappoint!
Items were displayed so creatively. This sink looks at home in the garden.
Right after I snapped this photo someone bought this chalkboard. Stuff was flying off the shelves!

I loved this old scale.
Printers block letters.
Lovely crystal chandy
When the barn isn't full of elegant "junque" it houses these guys....
Beautiful scenery (yes that is a blue sky in the northwest). It was gorgeous weather.
I purchased a few things. I'll share that soon.

Happy Mothers Day!

To all the mothers out there - Thank you for all you do. Sending you wishes for a happy and blessed mother's day.

To my mom.... I love you very much! Miss you and sending you love and hugs! xoxo

Drab to Fab

This was not one of my favorite pieces. Functional, yes. Beautiful, no. So I added a little "lipstick".........

There...... Much better. Isn't it wonderful what a little paint can do?

The sun was hiding today but I still was able to see...........

Good bye for now!
