Magnetic Personality Board

I found this humungous frame at my local GW.  It was screaming "project"!  I purchased it and it sat here for quite some time until the inspiration hit.  Flipping through a Ballard Designs catalog, I was inspired to make a magnetic board.  Have you seen the huge bulletin boards in their catalog?  They are wonderful.  They are also very expensive.

The detail on the frame is amazing.  The next thing I did was have a piece of metal cut to fit my frame.  I found a metal fabricator that could very inexpensively cut a custom size for me.

I have been on the lookout for scrabble games for awhile now.  So are other people because I rarely find many.  I ended up buying some online.  I then glued magnets to the backs.

I hung my new magnetic board and now I have a great place to spell out quotes, funny things, reminders, whatever floats my boat.  I think I'll leave the letters out so that anyone can play with it.

I'll be linking up with

Happy weekend everyone!

xo,
Danielle

Yep, that was screaming project and you made it happen with a really creative twist...too cool really it is. Nice you found a guy to cut metal like that for the cheap, makes it even more worth it to do a fun project in the future. Thanks for joining me, it was a pleasure to see this!!~ Debbie

I love it!!! It turned out great. I finally found a scrabble game at my local thrift store a few months back. I had looked forever before finding mine. Ebay is a great resource for finding stuff. Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment.

Very cool project, Danille! What thickness metal did you use? And, did you paint the metal? I've made one like this, but not this large, which is made even cooler by the awesome detail on your frame. GW...here I come to take a look-see for a frame! (I do have enough scrabble letters...except "J", since one daughter is Jessica I used up all the "j's". LOL) ~Hugs, Heidi

Hi Danielle, this is my first visit to your blog and I have enjoyed it. The magnetic board is gorgeous and yes I agree...leave all the letters there to stimulate minds! I can see some gorgeous fabric hangers up there too...only need to glue magnets to the back and viola! Be interesting to see where people put them with their words. Great project...congratulations.
Kind Regards
